Yousif Asfour, PhD, is the chief innovation and transformation officer and chief information officer at the American University of Beirut (AUB), where he leads enterprise technology and digital transformation and oversees the consolidated Office of Information Technology serving both AUB and the AUB Medical Center. He is also the executive director of the Talal and Madiha Zein AUB Innovation Park and played a key role in establishing AUB Online.
While at AUB, Asfour served as president of the CIO Lebanon Association until 2022 and played a leadership role in establishing several national technology initiatives, including TechCARE, the Lebanese National Research and Education Network (NREN), and HPC4L, the Lebanese National Center for High Performance Computing.
An alumnus of AUB, Asfour earned his BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from Northeastern University (1985, 1988) and his PhD in Cognitive and Neural Systems from Boston University (1995). He has published in professional journals, holds a patent related to fast data transfer for multiprocessor systems, and is the co-author of the leadership book From Geek to Lead: A Techie’s Guide to Leadership.
